Don’t Sweat It: Tips for a Fun & Cool Summer Senior Photo Experience

Summer sessions are beautiful, but they’re also, well… hot.

Between the dreamy wildflower fields, your fresh beach tan and a more open schedule, it’s easy to see why so many seniors book in June or July! But with the Arkansas heat doing its thing, a little extra prep goes a long way!

Here are a few of my favorite tips to help you stay cool, comfortable, and confident during your summer senior session:

1. Water. Water. And More Water.

Drink a lot of water the week of your shoot (and bring some for the day of too)! Hydration helps you feel better and look better - it keeps your skin glowing and your energy up.

2. Choose Breezy, Breathable Outfits

Flowy dresses, linen tops, short sleeves—anything that lets you move and keeps the air flowing is a yes. You can absolutely look styled and stay cool!

3. Makeup choices

Stick to lightweight, matte formulas and setting sprays to lock everything in. Consider using my go-to makeup artist (which I highly recommend), she’s amazing at creating looks that hold up in the heat and still photograph beautifully!

4. Consider a Sunrise Session

Evenings aren’t the only golden hour—sunrise has that same dreamy light without the summer heat.
If you’re up for an early start, a morning session is a great way to beat the heat and still get gorgeous, glowy photos.

5. I Come Prepared (So You Don’t Have to Stress)

I bring a portable fan to help you stay cool between shots. You’re also welcome to bring a hair tool for quick touch-ups - my car has an outlet you can plug into! And if we need to pause for an AC break? No problem. We’ll take our time and keep things comfortable.
